What to expect at Avail

  • What should I expect if I am coming to Avail to confirm or make a decision about an unexpected pregnancy?

If you are visiting Avail for the first time, you can expect to be warmly welcomed at the door. You will then be given basic paperwork to fill out. If you are unsure if you are pregnant or need to confirm a pregnancy, you will be given a free pregnancy test (self-administered urine test). If you are far enough along in your pregnancy, you will be offered a free ultrasound exam, through a referral to a licensed women’s medical center, which operates a satellite medical office on-site at Avail. An ultrasound exam can tell you if your pregnancy is viable and how far along you are. During your appointment, you will also meet with a client advocate, who will offer you a decision-making tool that can help you process your options if you are pregnant and don’t know what to do. Avail’s client advocates practice reflective listening, and everything discussed in your appointment is completely confidential. Many of Avail’s clients return for ongoing support after their initial appointment.
